Does the insurance have any geographical restrictions regarding cover in my hometown? I am hiring a car to drive around home while my car is being fixed.

The insurance can be purchased for car hire use in your city of residence or hometown. There are no geographical restrictions for travel within close proximity to your permanent address.
The Australian Rental Vehicle Excess (RVE) Insurance product provides cover for travel within Australia (including Thursday Island).
